Solving the problems with food safety, human life, and environmental conservation through total life science solutions

Incorporating the theoretical frameworks of other disciplines dealing with human life and global environment, agriculture has recently developed into an academic field that deserves to be called total life science. The College of Agriculture deals with matters ranging from local concerns that involve agriculture, environment, and community to global issues that relate to food, natural resources, and society, preparing students as pioneers who can open up new possibilities for agriculture while incorporating a wide range of theoretical perspectives from food, information, and life sciences.

Department of Biological Production Science

As the world population increases, the need to overcome food shortages and environmental stresses also increases. For that matter, the overall agricultural production system must be innovated to ensure environmental conservation and efficient and sustainable production. The Department of Biological Production Science develops human resources that are capable of extending the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure delivery of high-quality, safe produce from crops (food crops, horticultural crops, and forage crops) and animals (industrial livestock). The curriculums in the second year are divided into two courses where plants and animals are learned respectively.

Department of Bioresource Science

The Department of Resource Biological Science aims to educate students to have a powerful imagination and ability to solve environmental problems related to food, natural resources, and energy that draw increasing attention in the 21st century. Students are expected to have extensive knowledge and experience in biotechnology, molecular biology, environmental science, and food science, while nurturing abilities and skills to think critically and proactively.

Department of Regional and Environmental Science

The Department of Regional and Environmental Sciences conducts basic and applied research and analysis on the nature of an environmentally sustainable community. Especially, we strive to cultivate highly skilled professionals who can establish an infrastructure for food production in agriculture and farming, while making an effort to create a sustainable, renewable society. The curriculums in this department are divided into courses in engineering and those in social science and information technology, both of which cover calculus, linear algebra, and introductory statistics as core requisites.
